The realm of imaging informatics is expansive and diverse. For those pursuing the Certified Imaging Informatics Professional (CIIP) title, the range of skills to acquire might appear vast. What's the best way to navigate this? 

I recently reached out to Don Dennison, a luminary in the field, and asked him to provide thoughts about the journey to becoming a CIIP. I will share his thoughts in quotes interspersed as I describe the 10 Domains:

Don: "With the shift of Radiology, Cardiology, and other imaging IT staff [...] the traditional skillsets and knowledge needed to manage imaging IT systems have changed."

The CIIP exam, administered by the American Board of Imaging Informatics (ABII), is structured around 10 key domains, each reflecting a critical area of imaging informatics. Let's delve into each domain, its focus, and some study tips to help you prepare:

1) Procurement (5 Questions)

• Focus: Project definition, justification, total cost of ownership, and more.

• Study Tip: Review real-world case studies to understand operational challenges and solutions in imaging informatics.

Don: "...This shift of imaging informatics from being “embedded” in the department can lead to an atrophy of insights and knowledge specific to imaging department systems and practices."

4) Communications (7 Questions)

• Focus: Roles in healthcare settings, medical terminology, system availability,       and more.
