Successful Visit at Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital

After an exhilarating journey to Nepal, I have returned home. It was wonderful connecting with the RAD-AID team during our project at Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital (TUTH). The visit was incredibly successful, and I am thrilled to witness the ongoing adoption of the PACS at TUTH, improving patient care for the people of Nepal.

Recieving a thank you gift from the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital

During my stay, I had the opportunity to collaborate closely with the dedicated team at TUTH, along with my fellow RAD-AID team member Alex Vargas - Imaging Informatics superhero and networking wizard from The Moffitt Cancer Center. Working with Alex and the TUTH DI/IT team, we mapped out the topology and custom imaging workflows. Sharing our experiences in imaging informatics and helping them understand the benefits and functionalities of PACS was extremely rewarding. Together, we implemented new workflows and addressed their challenges. Witnessing the staff's enthusiasm and eagerness to learn was inspiring, knowing that our joint efforts would significantly improve patient care in their community. As the project progressed, we observed the positive impact of PACS adoption at TUTH.

The site provided some very thoughtful gifts as a way of saying thank you for our visit.

Besides the technical work, I had the pleasure of experiencing the rich culture and beauty of Nepal. From the bustling streets of Kathmandu to the majestic Himalayan mountains, I was continually reminded of the incredible diversity and resilience of the Nepali people. Their warm hospitality made my time in their country unforgettable.

Reflecting on my journey, I am filled with gratitude for the opportunity to make a difference for the people of Kathmandu. I am confident that the adoption of PACS at TUTH will continue to grow, further enhancing the quality of patient care in the region. I would like to extend my sincere thanks to RAD-AID for making this trip possible and supporting our mission to improve healthcare worldwide.

Though I have returned from Nepal, the impact of this experience will stay with me, and I eagerly anticipate future opportunities to help communities around the world. Stay tuned for more blog posts and updates on my journey in global health!

I'll end this post with a picture of Binod (TUTH PACS Admin), Alex Vargas, and myself on our final day!
